VMware ESXi Veeam
Today a regular customers called having a wierd error. After upgrading their VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter to.1 (unsupported) they might suddenly no more backup VMs certainly one of their two hosts using Veeam.
VMware ESXi Veeam
The log would show:
Failed to login to “vcenter.domain.local” by SOAP, port 443, user “”, proxy srv: port:0
Cannot complete login due to an incorrect username or password.
I am certain this is something which has been fixed in Veeam B&R 6.5 (potential released).
VMware ESXi Veeam
Quick fix
#1 Eliminate the vCenter from Veeam (unfortunately this implies deleting all jobs currently deploying it or as a minimum take away the VMs from the job).
#2 Add each host as a standalone host with correct credentials
#3 Re-add vCenter
#4 Add some standalone hosts within the backup job
UPDATE 2012-12-18
What seems to happen sometimes are how the ESXi host(s) upgraded from fx 4.1 to.1 will stay in the SQL database. You can manually will end up in and remove these, however ensure you make a database backup first and when you are feeling unsure then don't hesitate to call Veeam and request their help to resolve this.
